The brief

Food Savvy was a household food waste reduction campaign led by Norfolk County Council, Suffolk Waste Partnership and environmental charity, Hubbub. They loved the idea of creating a stop motion film about a family that could inspire, everybody, from young to old to reduce food waste in their kitchens and take action.

Creative approach

Our starting place was to create a family called the ‘Nuffolks’ who live across the border between Norfolk and Suffolk with the idea that  our characters were like 'the borrowers' - small people in a big world (roughly the size of a kettle), who interacted in a fun playful way in a real life kitchen.

We crafted an engaging script, worked in some Matrix style film references and worked with a talented stop motion puppet maker to animate a beautiful family of three, doing cartwheels on a kitchen counter top.
